Psalm 61:2-3, "From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe."
We all get in that pit (right??...please tell me I'm not crazy). I just happen to be in one right now. Satan being a pest. It began last week and I hit bottom. I am still not out, but fighting better against him and his silly lies. Like David, I remember all of God's sweet kindnesses and mercy with me and lean into His promises. If there's one thing I can put a finger on is that even though I'm not quite out, I have a supernatural peace that can only be God in my heart. I do not feel alone. He is my strong tower and my refuge. When I was faint, He took me to a rock (HIM) higher than I. Nobody...and I mean NO ONE likes being in the pit. They are, however, unavoidable in this life and fallen world. And man, I'm tellin' ya there is no one I want in that pit with me more than God so I can take refuge in the shelter of His wings.
Spurgeon said, "Sweet is it beyond expression to remember the lovingkindness of the Lord in our former days, for He is unchangeable and therefore will continue to guard us from all evil."
Call on Him. If you are His, He will be right there beside you, picking you up, carrying you, sheltering you. If you don't know Him, call on Him so you can be with the One who WILL lead you to the place that is higher.
love you sister.
