ever present

Psalm 134:2, "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord."

This psalm, short and sweet as it is, is a prayer for those special servants of the Lord that served Him in the evening.  While others slept, they were there making sure the work of the Lord went on.  The psalmist called on them to continue to praise the Lord in their work.

Lifting up your hands in prayer was a symbol of offering praise up to God and receiving blessings from Him.  Dr. Constable adds, "Blessing the Lord is equivalent to praising Him by recounting His might acts."

I love that the act of lifting your hands is a symbol of relationship...you praise, He blesses.  He is not a God that is removed from our lives, He is ever present in all of our moments...always working for good for His glory.
