Psalm 56:13, "For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life."
Talk about gratitude! It's all right there in black and white. The gospel message in one verse....drop the mic, exit stage left.
I get the big one...He delivered me from death. He sent His beloved Son whom He was with before time and offered Him up as an atoning sacrifice for every disgusting thing I've ever done. For every disgusting thing every person has done...the stuff we can't even think about because it is unimagineable in our minds that any human being would even do such things. Yet, He says if I have hate in my heart, I, too am a murderer. Or, if I have lust, I have already committed adultery. I have to remind myself of these things lest I get the idea that my stuff isn't as stinky as someone else's. But, you get it?! As filthy as I am, He wipes me clean as snow and I GET to have fellowship with Him FOREVER. M-I-N-D B-L-O-W-N!
It's the little stuff I probably miss way more than I get. He keeps me from stumbling. I have seen the "big" ones...where He has kept my tongue from gossip, kept my eyes on my loving husband, kept anger at bay when all I want to do is lash out with every fiber of my being. I know, though, there are a million things I don't see because I am reminded, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians 6:12)
We get saved once (He chose us and gave us to Jesus and we choose to believe Jesus is the Son of God who died for our sins). We kinda think it's a one and done thing. But we have to choose everyday to die to our flesh and choose to abide in Him. And when we abide in Him, He is EVERY DAY fighting for us in the heavenlies. And every day because His love is so great, we get to walk in His light.
Come and getcha some of that!
